Who are we and why are we here..?
The Fort William Mountain Festival is now very well established on the West Coast of Scotland and is run through the Highland Mountain Culture Association Limited. The Festival is volunteer led with no paid employees. The team are passionate about the outdoors and equally as passionate in their endeavours to make your experience of the Festival the very best it can be!
The Fort William Mountain Festival exists to create and promote opportunities for people in mountain experiences. We promote the understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountains and outdoor communities such as here in Lochaber, the Outdoor Capital of the UK. We want to respect and protect our great outdoors!
Audiences are treated each year to a range of unique presentations as well as adrenaline filled, thought provoking and world class films. There is access to information stands and outdoor products in our exhibition zone; a fantastic interactive space where guests can speak to professionals on a local and national level. Participants also have the opportunity to benefit from our cultural, creative and outdoor training workshops throughout the festival.
This is an annual celebration of the mountains and the outdoor lifestyle that surrounds us, attracting around 1500 people over 5 days – an audience that is as diverse as the activities we promote.
The Festival is held annually, mainly, in The Nevis Centre where you can attend our presentations, view our exhibition zones and enjoy the hospitality in The Light Garden Café . In addition, there are a range of fringe events in various venues, outdoor workshops and secret sessions to attend so browse through our programme to find out where everything is happening.
