Avalanche Awareness Workshop – Friday
Friday 21st February 2020. 8:45am
Nevis Range, Fort William
An Avalanche Awareness Workshop will teach you how to recognise when and where avalanches may occur, and how to avoid them. For people with some winter experience who want a more in-depth knowledge of avalanches and how to avoid them. A brief theory session is then followed by a full day of snow analysis all over Aonach Mor. This workshop is suitable for everyone who enjoys getting out in winter: skiers, snowboarders, winter hill walkers and climbers.
The Avalanche Awareness Workshop starts at 8.45 am at Nevis Range and after a theory session inside we will take the gondola to 650 metres, getting on to the snow and ice with minimum walking time. We finish for the last gondola back down at about 4.30 pm so you get a full seven hours of learning.
The workshop is run by Abacus Mountain Guides and there will be a maximum of 6 people with each experienced instructor. Winter boots, crampons and an ice axe are required for this course but if you don’t have your own they can be hired from Ellis Brigham in Fort William.
£70 per person
