Iain McBride and Pretam Gurung, along with a few close friends, founded Fleet— a media and design studio—when they were just sixteen. Growing up among the mountains, rivers, and forests of Breadalbane, they spent their days outside, testing the limits of gravity, water, and their own bodies. Nearly a decade later, they are no less curious. The difference now is that they have better gear, more time, and the freedom that comes with adulthood.
Fleet is the expression of a deep connection—to ourselves, to each other, and to the Earth—that comes from being people shaped by the mountains.
Fleet are excited to premiere two recently finished Fleet productions: Movement and Perspective.
Movement is a short, poetic kayaking film which highlights the intricate beauty of how water moves. As whitewater athletes, we’ve always had the privilege of witnessing this complex artistry, and it feels important to share that beauty as widely as we can.
Perspective, on the other hand, delves into a topic central to every athlete yet rarely discussed: injury. While injury is something we all try to avoid—and often view negatively—progress is never linear. Some of the most profound learning comes from objectively difficult situations. This short film tells the story of how skateboarding became an unexpected but transformative training tool for an injured whitewater kayaker.
In this hour-long presentation, we’ll explore these themes of universal movement and the opportunities hidden within injury. We’ll also discuss the making of these films—and of course, answer your questions.
