Join Girls on Hills this Valentines Day for a chilly ‘Half Ben’ before taking a spectacular trail that descends under the buttresses of Carn Dearg to visit the Charles Ingles Memorial (CIC) hut. Nestled under the impressive North Face of Ben Nevis, the CIC hut is the UK’s only alpine-style mountain hut and dates back to 1928. A fantastic downhill trail ensures, following the line of the Allt a’Mhuilinn river, before zig-zagging down forestry track to finish via the UK’s last aluminium smelter (est. 1929). This journey incorporates a variety of terrain and gradients totalling approx.15km, with an ascent of 750m. On arrival at the lovely Highland Soap Company’s Larder Cafe, cake is compulsory!
Sponsored by Katoolah, all runners will receive a pair of microspikes to try during the run, in case the trail is snowy/icy. The event is also supported by Petzl, Dexshell and Mountain King poles who are also providing demo equipment for you to try out on the day.
Please note that this is a women only event.
